Medicare Insurance In East Moline and the Quad Cities
There's really no one size fits all for health insurance. Your insurance needs are unique and that's why it's important to consult with an independent Medicare broker. Medicare has four "parts"- A, B, C and D and understanding what Medicare does and does not cover is essential when deciding your healthcare coverage plan as each part provides a different set of health insurance benefits.

Let me help you choose the appropriate plan that meets your needs.
An Introduction To Medicare
Understanding Your Options For Healthcare
Medicare Part A covers hospital insurance and Medicare Part B covers outpatient insurance. These plans are administered through the government and most working adults qualify for Part A and Part B because they have already paid for these through Social Security Taxes.
Combined government and private plans are usually referred to as Medicare Supplements or Medigap. These plans are standardized through the Federal Government, but you must have Medicare Parts A & B to have a Medicare Supplement Plan.
Part A and Part B only pay for about 80% of your health care costs.

Medicare Parts A and B
Parts A and B are usually referred to as the "Original Medicare" and they are administered through the federal government.
Medicare Part A- Hospital Insurance
In general, Part A helps pay for some, but not all, inpatient care at a hospital, skilled nursing facility, hospice or long-term care services. For most, Medicare part A comes at no additional cost. Part A usually comes at no additional cost because most adults have worked 10 years or more to qualify and have already paid for part A's Medicare premiums through Social Security Taxes.

If you haven't worked for at least 10 years in the U.S., you'll have to pay a premium for part A coverage.
Medicare Part B- Outpatient Insurance
Part B helps pay for some, but not all medically necessary doctor's services, preventative care, durable medical equipment, hospital outpatient services, diagnostic tests, lab tests, x-rays, mental health care, ambulance services, and some home healthcare services.

Usually, many beneficiaries choose to enroll in Part B. For most, Part B costs
$174. 70 per month in 2024. But remember, Part B Medicare premiums can increase based on your annual income.
You can calculate the possible increase with the Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA).
Medicare Part C
Part C is referred to as Medicare Advantage and it is an alternative to "Original Medicare".
Medicare Part C- Medicare Advantage
Part C allows you to receive all of your health care through private companies as an alternative to Medicare Parts A and B. These plans cover the same expenses as Medicare and sometimes they can even include more coverage than Medicare.
It's important to note that you do not lose your Part A and Part B coverage with this plan, but you are still responsible for your Part B premiums.
Medicare Part C gives you comprehensive coverage and it can often offer additional benefits like prescriptions, dental, vision, hearing, fitness memberships, and more.
Part C premiums will depend on factors like your benefit choices, location and the private insurance company offering the plan.

You cannot have a Medicare Advantage plan and a Medicare Supplement plan.
Common Types Of Medicare Advantage Plans
-
PPO- A Medicare Advantage plan where the member can see out-of-network providers, but at a higher cost. Referrals aren't required.
-
HMO- A Medicare Advantage plan where the member must see in-network providers to receive coverage. Referrals are required for these plans.

Medicare Part D
Medicare Part D provides coverage for prescription medications and is often referred to as Prescription Drug Coverage.
Medicare Part D- Prescription Drug Coverage
Part D plans are offered through private insurance companies. Part D plans or PDP plans assist with the cost of prescription medications by paying for a portion of your prescription drug expenses.

Medigap
Medigap is also known as Medicare Supplement Plans.
Medigap- Medicare Supplement Plans
Medicare Supplement plans or Medigap are plans that are standardized by the federal government. Medigap policies are designed to cover the deductibles, copays, and co insurance of Medicare eligible expenses.

Medigap plans vary on the insurer, where you live and the exact plan, but they can save you from potentially forking out high out-of-pocket expenses.

You must have Medicare Parts A and B to have a Medicare Supplement plan.

Here's what you should know about Medicare Supplement plans:
